1. Who we are

GreyButUseful is a service operated by On-Off Group UK Ltd ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact us at hello@greybutuseful.co.uk. Registered address: Two Hoots, Church Road, Kirkbride, Wigton, Cumbria, CA7 5HY. ICO registration reference: C1983961 (final registration number to be added when the certificate issues).

2. What we collect

Account details: name, email, phone, town/postcode, and (for professionals) date of birth, areas of expertise, experience, job title and rate.
Job posts and messages: the content you submit when posting a job or expressing interest.
Technical: a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

3. Why we use it (lawful basis)

To provide the service — creating your account, showing jobs, and connecting clients with professionals (performance of a contract).
To keep the platform safe and prevent misuse (legitimate interests).
Where required, to meet legal obligations.

We verify that professionals are aged 50+ using the date of birth you provide, as this is core to the service.

4. Who we share it with

When a professional expresses interest in a job, we share that professional's contact details with the client who posted it, so they can connect. We use third-party providers who process data on our behalf under contract: our website and database are hosted on a virtual private server (OVHcloud), transactional emails are sent via Brevo, and encrypted backups are stored in Google Drive. We do not sell your data.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active, and job data and messages for up to 12 months after your account is closed (unless we must keep something longer to meet a legal obligation). You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, delete or restrict use of your personal data, object to certain processing, and request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@greybutuseful.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy and will post any changes here.
